Caries Theatre Company celebrates its sixth year of operation . Born 7 May 2003 in Caria, a fraction of Drapia, is one of the few cultural associations in the municipality. Chaired by Roman Nose, is composed of eight members-actors: Maria Calello, Sunday Molino, Maria Rosa Rizzo, Rosa Pugliese, Mario Romano, Francesco Pugliese, and Cristian Caterina Naso. Their dedication and passion for the theater is linked an old and long cultural tradition dating back to 1933 when the late Pasquale Pugliese (better known as "Masciu Pascali") was based, also in Caria, the dramatic society, "Don Bosco". The old company, of which the actors Caries are proud to represent continuity, comedies and dramas staged met with considerable success by audiences and critics around the Vibo Valentia province. After the death of its director, a small group of volunteers has continued this tradition, however, confined only to the representation of plays and in a strictly local. The "turning point", as defined by the members of the association, dates back to May 2003 when the group was set up as a true partnership. Since then, the work in the streets all over our province and its popularity is gradually increased. The main aim of the members, as we have reiterated, is "to study, preserve, enhance, disseminate and pass on the historical and artistic heritage of Calabria." This activity is conducted in the belief that "the rediscovery of local customs, learn to better serve the present and deal with more experience and wisdom to be weighted. The peculiarity of the Company are the comedy played: unpublished and original, written and directed by Roman nose that takes care of the steps until the final representation before the public. In them are presented scenes of everyday life. Stories of ordinary people, especially farmers, faced with a hostile reality, and at the same time, tragicomic. In short, food for thought on the social dynamics of our region, especially the Vibo Valentia province and the district drapiese. Their work does not end in the representation of plays, but is enriched with religious initiatives. "Pride", as they themselves are keen to point out, is the "Passion", held on Good Friday each year. A great and hard work that takes several months and involving more than fifty participants. For the occasion, come together the "party" dozens of people from other localities (Drapia, and Gasponi Brattirò) involving the three parish priests of the town: Meligrana Don Sergio, Don Antonio and Don Furchì Giuseppe Gennaro. Recently, in the latest edition of the sacred commemoration, we were kindly invited as spectators and reporters. On that occasion we were impressed by the audience participation, but also for organizing the event and the emotions given away to those present. In the same vein of this cultural-religious event, a few years also organized the "Celebration of the Rosary." It is an ancient feast that was celebrated on the third Sunday in Caria of October in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary and that had long been forgotten and neglected. Consistent with their "mission" of defenders and exploited in "memory" and urged the elderly population, after a passionate effort supported by the then parish priest Don Giuseppe Caria Furchì, finally managed in 2003 to restore it. "It has opened so the history books and re-read a page that belonged and belongs to all Caries" - so write in the message you gave us to bring him to the attention of the largest possible audience. Of note, finally, the "Emigrant's Day", this initiative also organized by the association on the first Sunday of August, in honor of the many that have had Caries away from their "nest" for business and which is made at the conclusion of the solemn celebration of Holy Mary of Caramel.
